I was having trouble with the ones you get from the harbor freight or walmart. The store ones are only 30w and only good for like 16ga wire and smaller. This duratrax iron is 60w and I was easily able to solder 10ga battery wires. It even feels heavier and better quality. I highly recommend and would buy again. That Aussie Guy Sunday, Jun 5 2022 (about 3 years ago) DuraTrax TrakPower TK60 60W Soldering Iron I purchased this to solder a Traxxas ID esc connector to a new Castle creations sidewinder 4, I also had to make up some motor wire extensions/4mm to 3mm adapters for the same esc.
This 60w soldering iron got the job done easily, it is quick to heat up and seemed to put out plenty of heat for the joins I made.
Pro tip: I was a little concerned this wouldn’t be powerful enough for the job I chose it for so I pre heated the terminals with a propane torch. This worked great and made good solid joins quickly! View all reviews
