Anonymous Verified Owner Wednesday, Jan 1 2020 (about 5 years ago) E-flite F-16 Thunderbird Nose Gear System The recently purchased (10/11/19) nose gear retract servo (actuator) failed after about 6 flights. No damage, no hard landings, no “wrecks” of any kind. After a complete and successful function check of all systems last night, the nose gear servo failed at the field after extending the gear once. On takeoff for the first flight of the day, both mains retracted but, the nose gear did not. Several attempts to cycle the gear to get the nose gear to retract were not successful.
In trouble shooting the problem, I replaced the 3 way servo extension with a different one and also bypassed the 3 way extension and connected it directly to the gear channel of the receiver. Nothing worked. A faint clicking noise can be heard when the gear switch on the transmitter is activated but, the retract will not function.
I’m very disappointed in the quality of parts for this plane. Eflight is a well known and respected brand name known for quality and value. View all reviews
