Description
The Exotek Rock/Baja Rey Alloy Differential Gear Case is a heavy duty diff cup option that can be used in the front or rear position on Losi Rock Rey or Baja Rey models. The cup uses bigger than stock, steel screws to help prevent blowing out the gear diff under heavy loads. Screws require a quality 1.5 hobby grade hex wrench (do not use allen keys). Losi Rock/Baja Rey gear diff is required.

Matthew Byrne Verified Owner Saturday, Mar 14 2020 (about 5 years ago) Exotek Rock/Baja Rey Alloy Differential Gear Case These are ridiculously bad. DO not buy if you expect them to mount straight up to the ring gear.
You have to first use a Dremel to bore out the hardened ring gear holes because the provided screws don’t fit through the holes!!
Then, once you have done that, you find out that they have provided you with 4 (or 5, I got 5 in my packet) 2.6mm x 12mm screws, but these screws are FAR TOO LONG to go into the diff cup. I had to cut the screws shorter with a Dremel also. Ridiculous. 4 customers found this review helpful. Manuel Herzog Verified Owner Monday, Mar 25 2019 (about 6 years ago) Exotek Rock/Baja Rey Alloy Differential Gear Case Is of good quality and improved my Losi Rock Rey. The stock one was out of plastik and the screws ripp off or even broke.
I had a fitting problem with the screws included but at the end I used a bit more force and then all was good. Will buy an other one just to have it as spare. 2 customers found this review helpful. Anonymous Verified Owner Sunday, Jan 6 2019 (about 6 years ago) Exotek Rock/Baja Rey Alloy Differential Gear Case Bought two of these for my Rock Rey. A lot of machined aluminum parts look nice, my question is always “how well do they fit?”
I’m happy to report these are amazing. Very well machined and everything bolts up perfectly. I’m looking forward to my next Exotek purchase. 2 customers found this review helpful. Anonymous Verified Owner Thursday, May 2 2019 (about 6 years ago) Exotek Rock/Baja Rey Alloy Differential Gear Case These diffs work great! IMPORTANT “You have to open up counter sunk holes on ring gear to 2.4 mm that correlates to a 3/32 drill bit”. Drill holes on ring gears and transmission gear to allow 2.5x6mm hardware. Directions say to use dremel tool but i found a drill bit works faster. Be easy with drill,You dont want it to heat up and lose its heat temper. 1 customer found this review helpful. Connor Verified Owner Thursday, Jun 3 2021 (about 4 years ago) Exotek Rock/Baja Rey Alloy Differential Gear Case Fits great on my Losi Baja Rey 1/10 scale, Only had to bore out the ring gear for the bigger screws. As for the other comments regarding the work involved, if you don’t expect a little bit of work on an aftermarket part to make your whole rig stronger then you shouldn’t be upgrading at all. Took me less than two minutes to dremel out the holes slightly for the bigger screws. Thing is bullet proof now, no more stripping rear diff cups..Great purchase! 1 customer found this review helpful. Oleg Panin Verified Owner Saturday, Dec 5 2020 (about 4 years ago) Exotek Rock/Baja Rey Alloy Differential Gear Case The same situation as the previous buyer. It is required to drill holes for the bolts and also either cut the threads deeper or cut off the bolts! 1 customer found this review helpful. Tanner Beckman Verified Owner Wednesday, Nov 27 2024 (10 months ago) Exotek Rock/Baja Rey Alloy Differential Gear Case Better than factory but still wears out fairly quickly. The aluminum wears out on the output shafts, causing excessive play then ruining the spider gears. Philip Molnar Thursday, Apr 11 2024 (about a year ago) Exotek Rock/Baja Rey Alloy Differential Gear Case Just put in the Exotek front/middle/rear aluminum diff case in the front of my Losi Baja Rey 2.0 to replace my stock front diff which was on its way (2 screws out of 4 broken) to failure.
On my Baja Rey 2.0, it fit perfectly with absolutely no modifications necessary. They say in the instructions that newer Baja Rey diffs may need minor drilling with a Dremel # 952 grinding cone, but maybe mine was an earlier version. At any rate, it fit perfectly!!!
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! Jorge Verified Owner Sunday, Jan 7 2024 (about a year ago) Exotek Rock/Baja Rey Alloy Differential Gear Case Great diff upgrade for Losi Baja Rey, requires some patience as you will need a dremmel to fit the screws as many others have said. Despite that, it has great performance and does the job. I ordered one for each diff, kinda mandatory if you plan to do some serious bashing and racing. KP Verified Owner Friday, Sep 1 2023 (about 2 years ago) Exotek Rock/Baja Rey Alloy Differential Gear Case Well built diff case. Worked exactly as it should. Drilling thru the ring gear for the larger hardware was tough, but a carbide bit made quick work. Would recommend! 10/10 Matthew Mueller Verified Owner Monday, Aug 17 2020 (about 5 years ago) Exotek Rock/Baja Rey Alloy Differential Gear Case You have to drill the holes larger on the ring gear. Doing this makes this an excellent part. Its worth the effort. David Friday, Apr 12 2019 (about 6 years ago) Exotek Rock/Baja Rey Alloy Differential Gear Case There is included instruction sheet now that addresses how to correct for the ring gears screw holes being so small. Diff case works perfect! 🙂 Eric Verified Owner Sunday, Mar 10 2019 (about 6 years ago) Exotek Rock/Baja Rey Alloy Differential Gear Case This did not bolt right up for me. The hex screws that come with the diff are just a hair larger diameter than the countersunk holes in the gear(maybe just mine)…and the gear is hardened steel, so it’s not easy to bore the holes out. 2 of 4 customers found this review helpful.
