Kevin Klein Thursday, Jun 4 2020 (about 5 years ago) Reefs RC 299LP High Torque/Speed Brushless Low Profile Servo (High Voltage) I got this servo from my LHS and put in my new Yokomo YZ-2 CAL3 and holy moly this servo is fast and strong. I have been a fan of the Protek 160T and Spektrum 6240 for my 1/10 rigs but this servo is my new favorite. Great job Reefs. 6 customers found this review helpful. Anonymous Verified Owner Saturday, Feb 23 2019 (about 6 years ago) Reefs RC 299LP High Torque/Speed Brushless Low Profile Servo (High Voltage) I installed this servo in my EB410 yesterday (Friday, Feb 22, 2019). After installation, I was setting end-points and trimming out steering and noticed how quiet and smooth this servo seemed to operate. In addition to smooth, quiet operation, the end-point adjustment setting was in the high 80s (percent) in both directions. Most of the higher torque servos I own have end-point settings are down in the higher 60s (percent) AND seem to vary widely in both directions. This is important to me because after adjusting end-points on other servos, I notice I have no steering. So, I need to re-adjust end-points back up to a higher number. This tells me that to achieve the steering I need, I must risk damage to the buggy or servo. With this servo, I didn’t have that problem. I had all the steering needed without stressing the servo or buggy. Again, a very quiet servo with almost zero buzz when stressed, under load at maximum throw in either direction. Given the price of this servo, buyers can get a powerful brushless servo in a full aluminum case (bottom of the case, too) at the cost of servos with less features. 6 of 8 customers found this review helpful. Super fast! More than enough torque for a mod 4wd buggy! I switched my b6.3d servo to a REEFS RC 299LP servo as well! Best 1/10 racing servo hands down! My new favorite servo at this price point and also programmable. I love that you can also set Sanwa SSR and Futaba SR mode for even more feeling out of this impressive servo (USB programmer needed for this). Sorry Protek but I just sold all my 160TBL and only getting these servos from now on. The protek had too much deadband at neutral which I don’t like and also the reefs is much stronger at any voltage 6volt (amazing) and at 7.4 volts or more this servo is just insane. The only servo that I like more than this one is the MKS 599sl but it cost way more. Highly recommended.

I purchased this servo for rear steering on my axial Capra. After 15 minutes of use the steering began acting like it had 0 power then would glitch out. After a reset on the truck I got the servo back for about a minute and with no load on the chassis and tires you could hear grinding. The end points were set correct and there was a bec connected and it was set to 6 volts. I guess all the rumors are true concerning the company “reefs”. Never again will I buy a product made by reefs or will I purchase a product that is recommended by the company. Biggest waste of money ever.
